Margarita Pizza and its Origin
Margherita pizza is a traditional Neapolitan pizza that originated in Naples, Italy. They named it after Queen Margherita of Savoy, who visited Naples in 1889, and Raffaele Esposito served her a pizza. We can trace the origins of pizza back to ancient civilizations, specifically the Greeks, Egyptians, and Romans, who made flatbreads with various toppings. They make it with the same thin crust, San Marzano tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella cheese as Neapolitan pizza, but it also includes fresh basil and is topped with fresh tomato sauce and a sprinkle of salt. The colors of the toppings (red tomato sauce, white mozzarella cheese, and green basil) represent the Italian flag.

- All Purpose Flour or Bread Flour(Maida)
- Warm Water
- Yeast
- Sugar
- Olive Oil or Regular Oil
- Tomatoes
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Green Basil
Procedure :
- For the dough, firstly you must activate the yeast by adding 7 grams of yeast to 3/4 cups or 180ml of warm water and adding half a tablespoon of granulated sugar.
- Stir the mixture and leave it for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Take 2 cups of all purpose flour or bread flour and add 3/4 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of sugar. Then whisk it to make a homogeneous mixture.
- Now start mixing the yeast mixture and slowly add the flour to the mixture 1 cup at a time.You can add a bit of water if it feels dry.
- Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and when you press the dough, it would bounce back.
- Now put the dough in a bowl and cover it with a cloth.
- Remove the cloth when the dough is double its initial size.
- Now roll the pizza dough to a circular pizza shape either using your hand or a roller. Make the sides thicker to make the crust.
- Brush the surface with olive oil and add the pizza sauce enough to cover the entire surface.
- Now add the mozzarella cheese and put the pizza in the oven till golden brown.
- Finally, serve your homemade pizza with some fresh green basil.
